Safeway Stair does not use hidden steel rods nor do we use a segmented center post in our oak spiral staircases. Many spiral manufacturers divide their center posts into 10 or more wood segments. This simplifies the manufacturing process but compromises the rigidity of the center post.

Safeway Stair center posts are a solid once-piece oak column and are constructed of the finest oak specimens available..

Upon Receipt of Your Order..

The spiral stair is built by our craftsman, sanded smooth, inspected by Quality Control, and can be picked-up fully assembled at our dockside or shipped in five containers. Typically shipping weight is 350 pounds (160Kg). Re-assembly time is about 5 hours. Installation instructions and hardware are included.

Safeway Stair maintains an inventory of all stair components to ensure timely deliveries. Most orders are completed within 20 business days and are shipped by common carrier to the job site.

Building Codes and Standards..

Treads: 1” thick (2.54cm) solid red oak

Ordering a Safeway spiral could not be easier! Our order form is only one page in length. We supply clear diagrams next to each field where we ask information about your requirements. You don’t have to waste your valuable time determining degrees of rotation, unit rise or which casts, sleeves or frills to include. For 30 years we have based our prices on a standard 9’(274)cm) height spiral. For heights beyond this, the cost is pro-rated.

Stairway building codes vary enormously within countries and states, therefore it is important to inform Safeway Stair of any special requirements your installation demands.

This is a list of features in ALL Safeway Stair spiral staircases:

• baluster spacing four 4" or less
• tread depth is 8" (20.32cm) measured 12" (30.48cm) from narrow end
• handrail height (helix) on our standard model is 32 (81.28cm) inches (34" (86.36 cm) available upon special order)
• upper platform rails are 36" (91.44cm) in height
• the 5 foot diameter spirals and larger have a minimum tread width of 26" (66.04 cm) or greater and can be used as a primary stair.
